Why is your Christmas tree up so early this year? How to share faith in lockdown: Andy Bannister

Are you like me and have put your Christmas tree up a few weeks early this year? Whether you are a first of December person or a two weekends before Christmas person there is a good chance that you are like millions around the UK who have put their tree up a couple of weeks earlier than you normally did.

 An article in the Independent on this topic quoted Psychologist, Dr Elena Touroni who said…““Planning enjoyable events and activities is a psychological strategy that can help build our capacity to cope with daily life. So in this sense, it makes sense that people might be doing these things a little earlier this year.”

 In short, the reason is hope. By reminding ourselves of the joy of the Christmas yet to come we can endure the difficulties that Covid-19 has brought.

 As Christians we don’t just have hope – we have living hope (Hebrews 4:12) which  has power and produces changes in life.

 In world that needs hope it is our job to bring it!
