Signpost: Work as Worship - A Holy Intent

My vision of worship was completely limited. I thought worship was about singing songs...I had to expand my vision of what worship actually is and then worship through my job.
— Jon Tyson

You may know the name Jon Tyson: well known pastor (Church of the City, NYC), author and speaker. But earlier in his journey, before these roles for which we may know him best, Jon was a butcher.

After dropping out of high school at age 16, Jon became a butcher. Having also come to faith in Jesus, Jon enjoyed the fullness of worship on Sunday; however, this seemed totally disconnected from his work as a butcher. That is, until he began to go in early to work and, as he says, “get on my knees and offer my knives up to God.”

Listen in to the linked video with Jon Tyson.

Take a moment to consider what might God be calling you to offer up today, in your workplace, as worship to Him?

I had a vision of imputing the glory of God into my daily tasks as a butcher.
