Rest - Andrew Dornan

Things will be slowing down at the Genesis Network over the month of July and as we move towards a time of the year where some of us will be taking some leave we want to take the opportunity to encourage the whole network to ‘rest’.

We ‘rest’ because God established the sabbath principle, a pattern that following work there should be rest.

We are reminded in Psalm 127:1-2 that “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labour in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat, for he grants sleep to those he loves.”

The Genesis Network is passionate about work, it is not a curse, it is good! Our redeemed vision of work stands in stark contrast to anxious toil, we work onto the Lord, not for human masters. That redeemed version involves, being filled up, re-created (recreation) so that we can continue to work and worship onto the Lord!

A number of our Network will be sharing how God has spoken to them about rest and hopefully it will challenge you to consider ‘rest’ whether you are taking some time off or maybe summer is the busiest time of the year.

First up is Andrew Dornan, who sets a challenge for each of us to find a place where we can rest, and hear God speak to us.
